Policy Changes
As you know earlier this year we instituted a policy of visitors checking into the office and getting a visitors pass before proceeding further into the building. The purpose for that policy is to keep the children safe. It helps the staff know who is in the building and that they have a purpose to be in there.
In wake of the recent tragedy in Connecticut it has become even clearer that it was a good decision to begin this sign in process. There are a few of additions we are making to the policy beginning January 3, 2013.
· Teachers are teaching during the day. In order to not cause disruption in their teaching please do not come to school to visit with them from 9:00-4:10 unless you have made an appointment and they are expecting you. Be aware that they may not even be available to visit with you outside of those hours in the event that they have another meeting scheduled. It is always best to call and make an appointment.
· We are also asking that at the very end of the day as you are waiting for your children to be dismissed, please wait outside and meet up with them there. Our halls get quite crowded at that time with students and extra people make it even more crowded and more difficult to keep the children safe.
· We are having several students that get signed out early nearly every day. It is understandable that at times there are doctor’s appointments and leaving early is necessary however when it happens every day students are missing out on valuable learning time and teachers have to stop what they are doing to prepare the child for dismissal. Students can no longer be signed out after 3:55 p.m. in order to give the class time to complete end of the day work and prepare for dismissal.
Thank you for helping to keep all of our children safe and create the best learning environment possible.
