BICYCLE
PERMIT REQUEST
Dear
Parent/Guardian:
Students
in the third grade and above are permitted to ride bicycles to and from school
under the regulations stated below.
1.
The
parent/guardian assumes full responsibility for the safety of the child while
riding the bicycle.
2.
The rider
must walk the bicycle to and from the street and park in the bike racks provided
by the school.
3.
The
bicycle must bear a current license plate.
A bike lock is highly recommended.
4.
The
bicycle must be ridden over a route prescribed by the parent/guardian.
The student will not change the route without consulting the
parent/guardian.
5.
The city
ordinances relative to bicycles in Wichita are to be observed
at
all times. These
include riding on the right side of the street; proper use
of hand signals; stopping at stop signs; riding only on the street
and not
on sidewalks, yards, parking lots etc.; and otherwise following the
rules
for vehicular traffic.
The
failure to comply with any of the above regulations can be reason for suspending
or revoking the privilege of riding a bicycle to and from school.

the privilege of riding a bicycle to and from school.
