The real treat is surviving the week of Halloween. We always laugh—telling new teachers that there is a reason why they aren’t told just how excited the children become...the weeks before Halloween and Christmas. Having said that...thank-you so much to those who sent treats and goodies, as well as those who were here to oversee our party.
A big College Hill welcome to Mrs. Jill Pot, who is the long-term sub in Mrs. Cabrales’ class. She is an outstanding teacher, who comes to us with many outstanding recommendations.

YPC concert is this Thursday morning. All students from grades 3-6 will be attending. We will return, just in time for lunch.

Friday we have an outstanding field trip to the World Treasures Museum. Last year was my first to visit this rich resource and I would encourage all of you to put that on your “Wichita-to do” list. What a great resource to have here in our own town.
We will be riding the bus—but parent’s are welcome to join us– at the museum. We are leaving here at 9:45—and students DO NEED A SACK LUNCH. We will return around 1:30.
News and more….from room 204!
Academically speaking…..
Language Arts: Your child has the opportunity to earn 20 extra-credit points, if they read The Life of a Cowboy, to you, anytime this week from their reading text book. You need to sign their bookmark. Our skill this week is inferences— or having the ability to draw a conclusion that is not written out in the text. In writing, our descriptive writing, using the book by Chris Van Allsberg, is due Friday.
Social Studies: We continue to research reasons for European Exploration.
Math: This whole month, we will be working on estimation, in all operations, as well as division with remainders. We will address situations when the remainder requires us to add another whole—such as 4 busloads of kids, with 15 left over, would require 5 buses. The extra 15 would need transportation.
